I get told that I did by people who hear stories, but I can think of a LOT of people who had it a LOT worse than I did, so I just try to play the hand that was dealt me the best I know how, and leave the rest to God. No sense whining about it. It was a long time ago, for one. And for another, it built a lot of the character in me that others appreciate today...

If I did not compare to others that were less fortunate, I would say "yes"! My Mom was sick the majority of my early childhood, lots of responsibility at a young age (5). Other issues that still, to this day have some effect on how I deal with things....

But, others have had it so much worse, no one to turn to, no one that really cares...so many hurdles to overcome. In the big picture, no, I have been blessed. In my own world, I still have issues with certain things.

An Alternative Girl (Female, Las Vegas, 36-45, Self-Employed) answered:

Sometimes. I lived in fear of an abusive stepfather most of my childhood. That is why now I am a badass chick that doesn't take any SHIT from anybody, but especially from men. I also have a hard time trusting men b/c of this. I tell men off ALL the time and refuse to be treated bad by them EVER again. I am happily single and can't see myself ever settling for any half-ass shell of a so-called man.

I think I had a ... 'sensational' childhood. I went through A LOT of things girls my age didn't and shouldn't have to go through. It was rough when I had to go through it, but now that I look back on it, I appreciate it. If it weren't for those things that happened, I wouldn't be here where I am with who and what I want to be with. Life has its ups and downs, and it's all about perspective. :]

Life is beautiful. :)
