Do you have a best friend? Is it important to have a best friend, or are a few close friends or several friends better or just as good?

What do you think and why?

I have a "best" girlfriend--one who goes back 18 years with me. We are really different people and sometimes she really bugs me but she is always "there" for me, and we are partners in fun. She likes to give a lot of advice--mostly good and she has jumped in and helped my kids a few times. That means a lot.
I have about 4 other friends of varying degrees of closeness. Each person is different and provides different experience, different views and I find it fun to have all of them in my life. Women friends show their love and affection in cool ways.

My bf is also a best friend but because of being a guy he doesn't always understand or interpret me the way my gf's do.

My daughter, my sister, and three of my four sons are very close as well.

I feel blessed to have a lot of love from the people in my life.
I was thinking about this yesterday and now your question has re-inforced it for me. Thanks--it's one of the "perks" of AO.--drawing your attention to things which are important in your life and feeling thankful.

I have friends. I haven't had a 'best friend' since junior high.

All my friends are the BEST.

The only best friend I have is my husband and that is good enough for me...I got rid of all my associates....they were AND still big time troublemakers...I don't need that in my life!

A lot of people are my "bestest" friends~ this includes friends, family including my Mom and my Step-dad,my children, co-workers...and I get something different from all of them. You can't get 'everything' from just one person. I think if you allow more than just one person in your life to be close to you, then you get more out of life...:)

I have a best friend. I think we met the first day of college and been cool ever since. I doubt its a life long friendship as he is way more ambitious than me but with technology being what it is I hope we can stay in touch.

A single best friend? Maybe, maybe not. I think it's certainly important to have at least one friend that is extremely close, though. Someone you can tell anything, go to when you need advice or comfort, and trust to keep their mouth shut. Someone, in other words, you can confide in when you can't tell your significant other or your parents :P
