Leasing or Purchasing a car????
Leasing or Purchasing a car???? / Jokes, Polls & Anything Else / 5:09 PM - Friday March 21, 2008
(Male, 22-25) asked:

Hey people I need some advice here.

I am planning on buying a new sports car... and I really want the Nissa 350Z and i have ALWAYS wanted one since it came out.

However, would you guys/gals recommend to purchase or lease a car, let alone a sports car?

I have already went through both options and both ways sound great. I have never bought a car before since I never really had do. My current car is starting to get really old and I want something hot looking and dependable and to me Nissan's have always been my family's first choice other than Honda's, LOL.

Thanks for your help!

Leasing a new car is the absolute WORST financial investment you can make.

Buying a new car is the SECOND WORST financial investment you can make.

Look for a gently used car. Don't throw away thousands of dollars of depreciation driving a new car.

Actually, at your age, you should NOT be wasting any money on financing. Save your money and pay cash for a car you can afford.

Well, it depends on whether you like your cars brand new and change them every 3-4 years. If yes, then leasing may be better as you'll only have a car for a few years and then get a new one and not have to worry about selling or trading in a car. Cars depreciate the fastest in the first 3 years. If you want to keep the car for longer than that, then it may make sense just to buy it.

Just read the contract carefully when you sign a lease. I think if you damage the car, then you have to pay for all repairs. Also, if you go over the mileage limit you agreed upon, you have to pay a lot of extra money. READ the contract!
