A Guy Critical (Male, London, 29-35, Fitness) asked:

Bit of a career question and could do with some advice.

I'm 30 and have a very good job - good career prospects etc but my heart just is'nt in it and unfortunately my degree and education has been based around my job so i will completely have to re educate/train myself for another job.

AM i too old to do this and start again?

Has anyone been in the same position?

Luckily i'm single which helps but i know that most women find men with a good direction and job an attraction.

Ideally i would like to move abroad as its always been one of my ambitions so i'm probably going to look into something that allows me to do this.

Thanks for any advice.

You're never too old to start something new. My mom was 45 and working as a clerk in a liquor store when she decided to go back to school and become a nurse. It was a LOT of hard work for her, but in the end, she has a very satisfying career and is making 4 times more than she ever did beforehand.

Just go for it!

My advice is that yes a woman wants a man that has good direction but it doesn't always mean that they have to have a job. Direction in finding what you want...if going abroad is that then a woman isn't needed right now. See if what you want to do...what you love...you can be trained in over wherever you go...then enjoy it. Life is too short to worry about what society is going to think. Follow who you are and if that's a starving artist on the Thames then so be it...you are the only opinion that matters right now!

Sorry if that sounded too much like one of those motivational posters.

If you want to move abroad then you can do so. It is your life to live to the fullest. Has nothing to do with gender. Rosey

If you decide to do it, remember that you might now enjoy the stability and $$$ you have now. Your true passion can take over what you lack and I think you will enjoy life much more. No you are not too old, just go for it. The world was created by dreamers and the conformists just wished they could be them, not vice versa...
