Birth Control Poll
Birth Control Poll / Jokes, Polls & Anything Else / 11:43 AM - Thursday December 15, 2005
An Intellectual Guy (Male, Edmonton, 22-25, Who Cares?) asked:

My girlfriend is on Alesse for birth control. It has pretty much killed her sex drive. We used to be intimate about 2 or 3 times per week - now I'm lucky if it's 1 or 2 times per month. It's quite frustrating!

My questions to women on birth control:
1. What brand of birth control are you on?
2. How well does it work for preventing pregnancy?
3. Does it make you moody?
4. What effect does it have on your sex drive?

I love the Nuvaring.. they also have a great website. it made my sex drive stronger and its more effective then the pill , I had no side effects , and they are very few.. I hated medication.. it made me moody and cranky... and your right those pill could affect her, I can't take the pill for those reasons you mention, among others

There are some pills with less estrogen in them... helping with the sex drive problem. Ortho Evera is one I know of. That is if she likes the pill. THere are others as well with fewer hormones, still effective, just don't use as many chemicals.

I'm on ortho tricyclen lo right now and like any pill its 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. Since its "LO" it has a lot less hormones than regular pills so it reduces mood swings, nausea, wait gain, etc. Personally I don't think its had any effect on my sex drive at all. I would bring it up with her and see what she thinks. I know I'm pretty happy with it except she has to take the pill about the same time every day or theres a chance her period might come a little early. other than that its pretty nice but I would suggest bringing up the lack of sex, it might be something more than the pill affecting her mood.
