A Thinker (Female, Dallas, 29-35, Who Cares?) asked:

Last night when I asked my bf what he wanted for Christmas he told me not to get him anything. Of course I told him he forgot who he was dating...LOL. Anyways he went on to say how we will just go shopping after Christmas because he knows anything he gets me will be the wrong thing...WTF. OK I didn't think I was that difficult to shop for.

In any case, I think the real reason is he doesn't have the time to go get me a present due to his work schedule. Also, he might have to ask mom for his allowance...long story, but mom is in charge of his money. OK don't bash me here I know he is 26!!! Anyways, with this said men tell me the truth knowing that I am a big gift giver would you still expect a gift from me at Christmas even though you requested me not to get you anything?

Also, do I tell him how he has taken the fun out of my Christmas by not allowing me to get him something special for Christmas? OK I will be disappointed if I don't get a gift from him on Christmas, but I can live with shopping afterwards with him. I just can't see me not doing something for him. Thoughts here!

Help! This is my first Christmas with my current b/f. We have been together since April, and are discussing marriage toward the end of next year. Problem? I have absolutely NO IDEA what to get him for Christmas. I want this our first Christmas together to be special, and I want my gift to reflect this. But I am stuck. If anyone out there has any good ideas for an excellent Christmas gift, PLEASE HELP! Oh, anything dealing with sex is not of any help, because we're committed to waiting until we are married. Thanks everyone!

Excuse me for this but my budget calls for early action on a Christmas gift for my sweetie. I will say that I have a price range of between 100 and 300 dollars for my ideal gift on lay-away. I have an idea of what I want to get for her but I would like to hear some suggestions from you. What would you women consider to be a take your breath away christmas gift from your love?

I am friends with a married man. We've had lunch once, coffee once, and we talk on the phone sometimes. There has NEVER been a hint of impropriety. My problem is that he sent me a VERY expensive gift for Christmas. I told him I don't think it's appropriate, but he told me that every girl should get a very special gift from someone at Christmas. He's fairly well off, so the gift isn't expensive at all to HIM, just to me. I absolutely love the gift, but want to hear what other people think. Thanks.

I just found a Christmas present on my front porch from my ex boyfriend's family. You see we broke up a week before Christmas. I had made his family a personal gift and mailed it to them because I still thought they should have it. It was hard to open a gift from his family and now it makes me sad. I want to thank them, but I already sent them a card with the gift I sent that wihsed them a Merrry Christmas and thanked them for the wonderful times together. Do I send another card or just leave things as they are?

Okay, so I need your opinion. I've been dating this guy for 5 months now, it's long distance, and we see each other every couple of weeks. Yes, we've had sex, and I've known him as a friend for about 1 1/2 years. The problem is that I think this guy has no relationship experience and it's getting really frustrating for me.

Let me give you an example, last Christmas I sent him a gift package that arrived 3 weeks before Christmas because I wanted to make sure that it got to him on time (plus his bday is on Christmas Eve), his gift to me arrived 2 weeks into January.

This Christmas, I expected a little more from him since we were now dating. Again, my gift to him arrived a couple of weeks before Christmas. I spent about $80 plus I wrapped the presents nicely, and shipped them.

Once again....his gift to me arrive TODAY, which included my b-day gift (my b-day was in NOVEMBER!). The gift was a magazine subscription and a VIBRATOR, lol. My first thought is that a vibrator is more of a Valentines gift. But I'm even willing to overlook that fact because I am very sexual, and I certainly could use a vibrator. HOWEVER, I'm just so disappointed in him that the gift arrived so late, came unwrapped, and he even left the price tag on it (note, it only cost $17, so it's certainly no Rabbit).

Am I just being a complete ass, or do I have the right to be a little upset by this? Part of me just wants to break up with him over this because I want to be with a man that is willing to put the time and effort into a relationship. It's not like I'm calling him everyday and expecting him to be there for me for every little problem...I'm very independent. I would just appreciate a little attentiveness!

I don't know, what do you think? Do I talk it over with him or just cut him loose? It's just so awkward. It's not like I expect expensive gifts. I would have been happier if he had wrapped a Hersheys bar in some nice wrapping paper and had it to me by Christmas, lol :)

He has a Ph.D and is 31 years old. Hasn't he learned the etiquette of gift giving by now? Let me know what you think....
