Re: breast cancer, so my mother and sister both had breast cancer in their early 30s, as well as I have had issues with my breast in the past. On top of it my sister tested positive for the breast cancer gene.

So I have an option to go on anti-cancer drugs because I am "high risk", the same drugs they give women that have had breast cancer already to prevent it from coming back.

Now my s/o and I want to get married and have a child within two years. These drugs effect your ability to get pregnant, now it is not impossible, but it will make it harder. I am 33 by the time I get pregnant 35, so it may be harder anyways without the drugs. My s/o suggested that I waited till after we had our child. My question is would you wait? Or would you start treatment now knowing the high risk group you in. Remember I am 33, mom had it at 31, sister at 35.

I will go on these drugs, just trying to figure when. Thanks.

Ok, I just saw a commercial on TV for donating to breast cancer research...does this piss anyone else off??
I mean, more women die every year from lung cancer, than breast cancer, in fact, breast cancer only accounts for 18% of diagnosed cancers, and yet, they recieve 90% of all cancer donations raised throughout the world. Thats billions of dollars annually.
It drives me nuts...I will never donate a single dime to breast cancer, not that its not a valid concern throughout the world.
Any thoughts??

It seems most/all women at some point realise they don't really want/like 'nice' woose guys for relationships and yet EVERY woman raises her sons to be that exact way. Why?

Prostate Cancer affects more people than Breast Cancer and yet it receives only 10% of the funding for Research that Breast Cancer does. I wonder if it's because women's issues are given higher prominence in today's society.

A Life of the Party (Female, 29-35, Who Cares?) asked:

I have been thinking about getting breast implants and the one thing that is keeping me from getting them is...breast cancer. I know they do not cause breast cancer but can make it difficult to detect on mammograms. I am perfectly happy or fine w/ my breasts but I wouldn't mind being a cup bigger. Right now I"m a full C maybe sometims a small D (depending on the bra) I am 4'11 or 5'0 about 105. What do you think good idea or bad idea?

...on a more serious note...there was a question in the tribunal about breast pain and males...For the record..in 1998 my dad was one of 10,000 MEN diagnosed with breast cancer. He eventually died of "breast cancer of the liver and colon." So guys? Don't take it lightly! Now see this...My mom had breast cancer, my dad had breast cancer and my ex wife had breast cancer!mI have to start mammograms next year! And I am already asking my children (INCLUDING my son) to do self exams...this is seroius stuff...I wouldn't wish anyone to suffer as my dad did...So get tested...and men?..Wear a green ribbon or something!

A woman is far more likely to die of heart disease than breast cancer, but women seem much more concerned with breast cancer. Is this generally true? If so, why? I'm not at all critisizing, I really want to understand the viewpoint. Thanks.

(Female, 26-28) asked:

At what age should you start to get checked for breast cancer. I have heard before that you have to be a certain age before you can go for a mammogram, but I hear more and more stories these days of young women being diagnosed with breast cancer. Some as young as 25, maybe younger!
There is no history in my family of it as far as I know, but I'm just curious.
